AREAS OF PRACTICEThe firm has extensive trial experience in family law issues such as child custody, visitation, child support, spousal support (alimony), community property and adoptions. Joan M. Malbrough has attended numerous seminars on family law. The firm has handled particularly difficult issues in this area of law, which naturally includes strong emotional cases and even crises intervention. Additionally, Joan M. Malbrough worked as a public defender in Terrebonne Parish from 1994 to 1998. During that time, she tried numerous criminal cases before both 6 and 12 person juries. Since 1992, Joan M. Malbrough has represented over 400 clients for criminal matters, ranging from driving under the influence of alcohol to first degree murder. Few attorneys in South Louisiana have this degree of criminal representation experience. Joan M. Malbrough also has experience in various fields of personal injury law, including automobile accidents, offshore injuries, wrongful death, maritime accidents and medical malpractice. She began her legal career as a law clerk for a firm which worked exclusively in the area of personal injury law while attending Mississippi College School of Law. Upon her graduation in 1992, she became an associate with that firm until she began her own law practice in 1993. The four attorneys in the firm have practiced throughout South Louisiana, and have tried a number of cases in Terrebonne and Lafourche parish state and city courts. Practice is not limited to South Louisiana, however, as all attorneys in the firm are licensed to practice throughout the state of Louisiana in district, city, and federal courts. |
